Grand Opening
Capital Gold Grand Opening of El Chanate Gold Mine
The El Chanate mine celebrated its "Gran Inaguracion", or Official Grand Opening, on Friday November the 9th. Over 200 people attended and the event was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
The Governor of Sonora, Eduardo Bours Castelo, along with several other prominent State and local officials were also in attendance. Senor Bours arrived via helicopter, toured the mine site, and even witnessed a gold pour.
"When the reality exceeds the dream"
When he arrived at the reception, a commemorative plaque was unveiled, dedicating the El Chanate Mine. The inscription read, in Spanish: "Un sueno de matas alcanzadas y superadas", which roughly translated means "When the reality exceeds the dream".
Speeches were given. First, John Brownlie, Capital Gold's COO, welcomed the Governor, and thanked everyone for coming. He recognized all of the achievements by both CGLD Management and the mine staff for bringing the mine into reality. He closed by saying: "This is now a new Company. We have established a base of operations in Mexico, and intend to grow, and be a part of the Sonoran economy, for many years to come.
Lorenia Picos, a laboratory technician, then spoke on behalf of the El Chanate mine staff. She discussed the spirit, teamwork and family atmosphere that is evident among all of the workers.
"El Chanate was one of the best run, efficient mining operations I've ever visited"
Governor Bours then thanked Capital Gold for having confidence in Sonora, and for investing in and developing the El Chanate mine. He said "El Chanate was one of the best run, efficient mining operations I've ever visited".
Several media representatives were also in attendance, representing both television and print media, from both Hermosillo and Caborca.
